Week 2 Reading Reaction #2

Personally I feel that society as a whole takes the non-processing route when it comes to communication , relationships or conflict. This to me is why famous people or people of great importance take extreme caution when in public or speaking to the public because any wrong move, on purpose or not, will be automatically looked at in a certain way. So when it comes to a personal level I try to stay away from a non-process view as much as possible. I do feel though that a non-process view can be used in certain situations that are extreme. If I were to watch a man hit his girlfriend there is no process of if he is a good man or not I will automatically go to bad. So If asked "in what way" do I take non-process view I have to say it all depends on the situation. People do little things that if over heard or seen from a distance could look very wrong but in fact very harmless. Taking a non-process view on situations needs to be done carefully. I could change my thinking by examining the situation as much as i can before jumping to conclusions. Unless I am personally involved I will not know all the details and it is unfair to judge without knowing the whole story.

  1. Southpaw,
I completely agree with your blog post example of how celebrities or other important, well known people take extreme caution when they present their public speeches. They use this tactic to gain peoples’ trust and to make them seem likeable. I also like how you mentioned not jumping to conclusions and not judging. I think that the non-process view is a pessimistic view and, like you said, isn’t the best way to view things. Although I still agree with your idea that the non-process view is okay to use in some situations. Great post!

  2. Hey!! I really like how you used celebrities as an example. I honestly did not think celebrities came to my mind when I was trying to find examples of the non-process view, so good job and making that point. I think society in general do have a non-process view of communication because they do assume a lot of things when it comes to celebrities. I believe that there are times we take this view without knowing it because it is in our nature to jump to conclusion about what we see. It is interesting how you brought up that sometimes non-process view of communication could be used. After reading your explanation, I do agree that sometimes the non-process view is fine. Anyways, good posts this week!
