When I looked up the word forgiveness it the first few
results I found were related to the bible. Forgiveness is a major concept in
religions such as Christianity. As I continued to read the results began to
focus on how to forgive and the process it takes to do so. Looking up
reconciliation produced very different results. It did have results relating to
the bible once again but overall the majority was simply describing what the
word means. I feel as though this word is difficult to explain and can be misinterpreted.
This is why I feel most of the results are just definitions. When looking up
the word revenge the results came back completely different from the rest. The
results were all about a certain T.V show and other movies or shows with the
word revenge in it. I even scanned forward a great amount and still I was
coming up with the same results. Forgiveness came up with the most results and
feel this way because this word is commonly used.
Forgiveness seemed to garner the most relevant results for me as well. The fact that the word is an almost universal subject due to the spread of religion it is unsurprising that it had such a large online footprint. People seem to put a lot of emphasis on forgiveness, which I think is a good thing since it is so vital to keeping good relationships with people.
ReplyDeleteLike you, I found that reconciliation had very little results, and most of them were to give meanings of what the word meant. I think reconciliation is a very unused word, that not many people take the proper time to learn. For one thing, it isn’t a very discussed topic and people don’t always know what it means.
Lastly, revenge seemed like it would also get a lot of response since it is such a well-known word. Usually everyone can tell you to some extent what it means to seek revenge, which is why I think Hollywood took the word over. The results for the TV show and movies about revenge were numerous for me as well, which just goes to show you how much people can relate to the word. I mean, why else would Hollywood take so much time to create media for it? However, it seemed that not many sites were devoted to the scope of what it means to get revenge. I guess that can be a good thing though.
I enjoy your weeks post on the different terms such as forgiveness, reconciliation, and revenge. I think that the reason why forgiveness was the most commonly found topic with the best results may have strictly been because it is the most commonly used and also possible the most important of the three. Revenge is not really something that is thought highly of so it makes sense that there was not as many results about it as the other two. Overall, I really liked the reference towards the bible and some of the things that it talks about containing forgiveness and in all a quality post.
